Step 1: Since it is given that Δ ABC ~ Δ XYZ,

∴ $\frac{XY}{AB} = \frac{YZ}{BC}$

∵ XY = x cm, AB = 4 cm, YZ = 7.2 cm, BC = 6 cm

∴ $\frac{x}{4} = \frac{7.2}{6}$ = 1.2

∴ x = 4 x 1.2 = 4.8 cm

Therefore, the value of x is 4.8 cm

Step 2: Again, from given condition of Δ ABC ~ Δ XYZ,

∴ $\frac{XZ}{AC} = \frac{YZ}{BC}$

∵ XZ = 6 cm, AC = y cm, YZ = 7.2 cm, BC = 6 cm

∴ $\frac{6}{y} = \frac{7.2}{6}$ = 1.2

∴ y = $\frac{6}{1.2}$ = 5 cm

Therefore, the value of y is 5 cm.
