Q) In the figure given above, △ ABC ∼ △XYZ, then find the values of x and y.

(Q 25 B – 30/1/3 – CBSE 2026 Question Paper)
Ans:
Step 1: Since it is given that Δ ABC ~ Δ XYZ,
∴
∵ XY = x cm, AB = 4 cm, YZ = 7.2 cm, BC = 6 cm
∴
= 1.2
∴ x = 4 x 1.2 = 4.8 cm
Therefore, the value of x is 4.8 cm
Step 2: Again, from given condition of Δ ABC ~ Δ XYZ,
∴
∵ XZ = 6 cm, AC = y cm, YZ = 7.2 cm, BC = 6 cm
∴
= 1.2
∴ y =
= 5 cm
Therefore, the value of y is 5 cm.
