Q)  Solve the linear equations 3 x + y = 14 and y = 2 graphically.

(Q 28 B – 30/4/2 – CBSE 2026 Question Paper)

Ans:

Step 1: To solve the given linear equations, let’s first plot both lines and find point of intersection.

(i) For 3 x + y = 14:
at x = 0, y = 14
at x = 1, y = 11
at x = 2, y = 8
at y = 0, x = 28 b. Solve the linear equations
at y = 2, x = 4

(ii) For y = 2:

Since at this line, for all points, y coordinate value is 2, irrespective of value of x

∴ This is a horizontal line at y = 2

Step 2: Let’s plot these 2 lines on graph:

28 b. Solve the linear equations

By looking at the graph, we can see that both lines intersect at point (4,2).

Therefore, the solution to the given system of equations is (4,2)
