Q) A bag contains 25 balls. Some of them are yellow and others are green. One ball is drawn at random. If probability of getting a green ball is 24. A bag contains 25 balls. then find the number of yellow balls.

(Q 24 – 30/5/2 – CBSE 2026 Question Paper)

Ans:

Step 1: Since, the bag has total 25 balls,

∴ total outcomes of drawing 1 ball at a time = 25

Step 2: Now, let’s consider the bag has G number of green balls

∴ Each green ball has equal chance of being drawn

∴ The favorable outcomes of drawing a green ball = G

Step 3: Since the probability = 24. A bag contains 25 balls.

∴ Probability of drawing a green ball, PG = 24. A bag contains 25 balls.

Step 4: by given condition “Probability of getting a green ball is 24. A bag contains 25 balls.

24. A bag contains 25 balls.

∴ G = 24. A bag contains 25 balls. = 15

∴ Number of green balls = 15

∴ Number of yellow balls = 25 – 15 = 10

Therefore, Number of yellow balls in the bag are 10.
