Q) In the given figure, Δ AHK ~ Δ ABC. If AK = 10cm, BC = 3.5cm and HK = 7cm, find the length of AC.

In the given figure, Δ AHK ~ Δ ABC. If AK = 10cm, BC = 3.5cm and HK = 7cm, find the length of AC.

(Q 21 A – 30/2/2 – CBSE 2026 Question Paper)

Ans:

Step 1: Since, it is given that, Δ AHK ~ Δ ABC

∴  \frac{AK}{HK} = \frac{AC}{BC}

Step 2: After substituting given values, we get:

∵ AK = 10 cm, HK = 7 cm, BC = 3.5 cm

∴  \frac{10}{7} = \frac{AC}{3.5}

∴ AC = \frac{10 \times 3.5}{7}

= \frac{35}{7} = 5 cm

Therefore, the length of AC is 5 cm.
